nikkistone
I'm noticing that there is a LOT of set up for Saxon Math 3 and Math 1 before most lessons. Do you cut everything out, gather things, etc for ALL the lessons before you start the year? Or do you just get things together before each lesson every day? It seems that it'll disrupt our day if I had to stop and gather items, cut shapes out, collect magazine pictures, etc each day before doing math with my little guys. Advice? and TIA
KellieK
I skipped most of that kind of stuff. I did not prepare anything ever, I just winged it and if it was too complicated to gather real quick during the lesson we did not do it. ByGrace3
That was one of the main reasons I switched math programs.
SorrelZG
I prepared for the week in advance so I was ready to go each day. It is relevant to share (perhaps even directly related) that my stint with early Saxon was very brief. It's very much not the way I'm inclined to do early math (in daily life, shoot from the hip) but I made a valiant effort for maybe a month. :D
aminuteorless
Sunday evening I glance through the week's lessons to see if there is any prep needed for the week. I want it to be open and go too.

LinRTX
One thing I did was spend a couple hours doing everything I could to prepare for the lessons and get as far as I could. I tried to do several weeks or months at a time. Then I saved it so I could use the material for my next student. There are very few lessons where that cannot be done. nikkistone
Thank you, everyone, for your input. My first two days (tues and wed) were HELLACIOUS. Today has been SO much better. No tears from anyone -- including me! :hurray:
bethben
I skip a lot of stuff. If they need manipulatives, I have those nearby. For example, yesterday, I skipped making a bar graph out of paper. She's been there done that. No need to review Beth
