Juliegmom
My daughter will be studying current events along with her Sonlight world history course next year. Does anyone have any experience with any of these online resources? Which one is best and why? PBS Newshour Extra, New York Times Learning Network, or Channel One? We live overseas so a magazine or newspaper subscription is not an option. Thank you!

Candid
We are mean and make my oldest summarize Wall Street Journal articles. It is not free online, we have a print version, but you could do the same with the New York Times. Part of why we do it is for the exposure to better writing style of WSJ as compared to our local paper.
Sebastian (a lady)
I would lean toward an adult paper like New York Times or Wall Street Journal. We've gotten print subscriptions using airline piles. Maybe you could get the digitalWSJ the same way. The writing is so much better than smaller local paper or student editions. And the greater article lengthy lend itself to better understanding. you might also look into The Economist. They do have a student subscription price. CyndiLJ
You might also look at using a curriculum from Connect the Thoughts which has subjects by topic and you can use it in addition to looking up articles online or in a newspaper.
