Rebecca
Somewhere I read that these are being reformulated and abridged for "modern" readers. Is anyone else familiar with this and do you know when the change is taking place? Thank you! Rebecca
JFSinIL
Oh, I so hope this is not true! There have been simplified picture-book versions of many bits of the books, for younger readers. My dd's had a couple of them (such as Dance at Grandmas - which just covers the sugaring-off party in the first book).
KS_
Somewhere I read that these are being reformulated and abridged for "modern" readers. Is anyone else familiar with this and do you know when the change is taking place? Thank you! Rebecca The original ones aren't being abridged, but the illustrations are being taken out. Here's a page that explains some of that (scroll down a bit): http://melissawiley.com/books/
Homeschooling6
The Rose Years, Caroline Years etc. are the ones. THey are taking out about a 100 pgs. per book. Once I found out I started searching high & low for them. I finally got the whole set. So much for adding them to my collection slowly. melmac
Oh, that's awful! When will "they" (whoever they are) stop trying to dumb down the nation. Thanks for the heads up, I'm adding this to my book buying list.:)
