Alessandra
I bought a Brother laser printer -- everyone here said they were great, BUT It won't work. It's model HL2270DW -- the plus & play (for auto installation) won't work. Apple message is that they don't have the software in software updates. -- trying to add a printer through System Preferences (or other ways) won't work. -- even after I downloaded software from Brother, it won't work. Brother "chat' people said it should work. I have a Mac with OSX 10.8.3 and AirPort Time Capsule as a router. "Should work." Does anyone have one these %**% printers, with Mac Mountain Lion?? This was what I was sent for help. http://host220.broth...D1lbiZjPTAxMA==)/bc/bsp/sap/zsdb/display.htm?SOLUTION=200000032816 Aw, gee, the webpage link gives an error message. 14 pages of directions. OR -- can anyone recommend a cheap laser printer? I have a wonderful Canon all-in-one inkjet that I love, but I wanted something with a cheaper cost per page for printing curricula. Tita Gidge
What a giant pain! This is when I hand over the printer and webpage link to the teenagers in the house, and set them free. They're cheap (only takes the bribe of a Sonic milkshake) and like the challenge, whereas I'm old and too easily annoyed messing with technology that's supposed to make my life easier LOL. PachiSusan
Did you download the driver from Brother's website? NM - I just saw that you did.
plansrme
Have you googled the issue? I have a brother that was a gigantic PITA to install with one of my laptops, and google led me to a YouTube video some Good Samaritan posted. The GS explained how to reset something on the printer--instructions found NOwhere in the instructions. Since then, all future installations were a piece of cake--newer laptops, including a Mac, found it and installed it wirelessly and painlessly. I found my GS with the model no. and "installation." It was either that or shoot the thing.
Lanny
I googled for brother HL2270DW apple macintosh and ended up on this URL: https://www.google.c...lient=firefox-a I suggest that you begin at the top, on the Apple Support site. discussions.apple.com This is the first URL: https://discussions....tart=0&tstart=0 We had, for many years, a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 6L. It was a wonderful, troublefree machine until it needed service. You are correct, the cost of printing a page on a LaserJet is a fraction of what it would be on an ink jet printer GL

The beginning question is what is happening to me. Geez, it 2013, not 1983 -- this stuff should be automatic. I am getting pretty fed up. probably will call Apple as we have enough new devices that I think I can get a free call.
Alessandra
I spoke with Apple -- very helpful, intelligent person, as usual for Apple. But printer will NOT work with current Mac OS. Returning the printer while I still can. Big disappointment and bigger waste of time. But thanks for listening! UPDATE: I am a complete idiot! This morning, I got a real person at Brother (finally!) and now the software works.
