A friend of my son's gave him Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening" in modern english, (utilizing the ESV version of the Bible) and wrote in the front of the book "This guy knows what he's talking about." If this graduating friend of yours has any level of faith at all, it will be sorely tested in college. Tossing a devotional to a guy is a great idea, in my opinion. He can read it or not, but he'll tuck it away and may turn to it in later years. readwithem Posted August 2, 2008 Share Posted August 2, 2008 There's a book called "How to Survive your Freshman Year" or something like that, it was written by upperclassmen - so these ideas were fresh in their minds. I have a small book that has bits of wit and wisdom from Ben Franklin that cracks me up. Or George Washington's Rules of Civility. Those are just a couple that popped into my mind.... milovany Posted August 2, 2008 Share Posted August 2, 2008 I gave the book Do Hard Things by Brett & Alex Harris (19yo twins) for graduation this year. Great read! And not preachy, just encouraging.
