What does morbidly obese mean to you?

And I'm not trying to be contrary or defensive, I promise. I just have a hard time figuring out when to settle with good enough or, more typically, beat myself up about not being optimal. It's a hard balance to strike.

 

It's overwhelming, and our defense is to shut down. Just start small.

I highly recommend Dr. Sears A Total Health Program for Kids Ages 6-11. The book shows you how to make a plan to help your child grow into his weight. It incorporates food, exercises, and attitude. I've been using many of the strategies for the past several years and my kids who used to be well above the 99th percentile for their BMI and are now 94th and 97th percentile.

 

 

Whoops, I didn't input the correct height when figuring the BMI. One is now in the 87th percentile and one is in the 95th percentile. This change took several years with changes to diet and exercise (using the Dr. Sears book). I expect them to both be in a healthy weight range by the time they are teens.
