Rebel
I did not read all the responses, but my son works 30 hours a week as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut, and he does not get paid minimum wage when out of the store making deliveries. It is $4 something an hour when out of the store and minimum wage when in the store washing dishes, cooking, or waiting on a delivery. The assumption is that he will get tips when delivering so the pay is lower. He also gets $1 per trip whether he is delivering to one place or two. StephanieZ
We generally tip generously, delivery or eat-in. (15-20% for dine-in unless the service is really awful, in which case we might go closer to 10-15%, but that is a once in a 100 meals kind of thing. Up to 25-30% if it was a really cheap meal and really great service.) We live too far out for regular delivery at home :( but we do get delivery sometimes at work. Often, when we get delivery, it is for just a couple sandwiches, and is only a $12-$18 bill. When this is the case, I tip more than 15%, as I don't tip under $3 or so, even if it is a very small order. I generally aim for $3-$5 for small orders (up to $30 or so). If it was a much larger order, I might tip as low as 10% so long as it was at least a $5 tip. TBH, if I were ordering a huge order, I'd have thought $20-$30 or so (for an order that would fit in one car and not take a bunch of extra time) would be OK, but I've never done it. I can't imagine tipping more than $50 for an order that would only take one vehicle to deliver, but then again, I've never done it.
