3peasinapod
Do you write in the text? I'm not doing the writing part of Hake 5, just the large student text. I was thinking of having her write in a notebook, but that seems like a lot of writing. Any thoughts on this?
AK_Mom4
We wrote in the text for Hake 5 and 6 both. For the writing (which we did), DD11 used a notebook.
TarynB
Yes, DS writes in the text for his grammar lessons. It keeps the peace. :coolgleamA:
jengjohnson
We write in the text too.
Jim
Ds writes in a notebook. We does every problem as the author intended and it's not all that much writing. Takes very little time. It pales in comparison to when I had to write out every single word of every chapter in the Warriner's (was that the old standard?) back in the day. We're saving the text for the younger ds. That is, unless FLL is extended by then. I learned so much from that series.
Peaceful Isle
I have my daughter write in the text. It's just a ton easier for us.
Nscribe
Using the text allows them to create a reference book of their own.
Haiku
My dd really likes Hake. and I think she's learning a lot, but I also think it takes her a ridiculous amount of time every day. I don't even want to think about how long it would take if she had to write it all out ... Tara
Haiku
I just had to mention that my daughter had a weeping fit over Hake today. (She's started to get weepy about a lot of things. :crying: ) She said that there is too much review and she already KNOWS this stuff. I'm not about to switch from Hake because I think it's a very strong curriculum, but I did strike a deal that she could start doing only the odd exercises on odd days and the evens on even days. I told her that if her test scores go down, it's right back to doing every exercise. I do think there is too much review, but I still really like the program.
