WIS0320
I'm planning a course of study for 3rd grade. I am brainstorming and have these topics in mind: -Marine life and ecosystems -Marine habitats including beach, reef, estuaries -Ocean currents, ocean layers, waves, plate tectonics -Ocean water (salinity, depth, acoustics, etc.) -Weather -Underwater archaeology We will be studying the Middle Ages next year and I hope to tie in early exploration, ships and sailing and famous shipwrecks as well. What am I forgetting? I know very little about Oceanography so help me brainstorm!

Shifra
Kalmia has listed some great resources. I would like to add a great field guide for children, Seashells in My Pocket, 3rd: AMC's Family Guide to Exploring the Coast from Maine to Florida by Judith Hansen, if you live near the East Coast of the United States. WIS0320
Check out the GEMS Guides. There are several for Ocean studies. Thanks, I forgot about the GEMS guides. The ocean specific guides are above her level but I did find Sandy Shores, Water Habitats which may work nicely. I am pretty sure I am getting Sea and Sky from WP to use as a jumping off point and then adjusting to suit our needs. I appreciate all the suggestions!
