jenniferlee
That about sums it up. We've loved GSWL, but I'm not sure which would be better. I need something that isn't too complicated and Henle looks like it might be a little hard to figure out, just looking at the book. I don't know much about first form, so I thought I'd ask here. thanks Jen
crazyforlatin
I can't tell you whether one is better than the other, but Henle is cheaper. It's actually more open-and-go than it appears. I think FFL is based on Henle. We did transition from GSWL to Henle easily, but in our case, I've had to type out some exercises due to Henle's font. Someone did type out all the essential Latin exercises in a larger font and posted it online somewhere. I can link it once I'm on my laptop. We've been very happy with Henle, even though it's taken us some time to finish half the book, but the slow-and-steady approach suits DD better in the long-term. nandmsmom
We're doing GSWL this year and I was looking at First Form Latin for next year. I'm still undecided though.
happypamama
We switched to Latin's Not So Tough Level 3 after GSWL and have been pleased. We plan to continue with LNST. Level 3 is very easy for my fifth grader (no new grammar concepts), but lots of practice, and more importantly, vocab that wasn't in GSWL. Halcyon
We switched to Henle after GSWL and enjoyed it. Slow and steady. We are about halfway thru now and DS10 will be beginning Lone Pine Latin in two weeks. I needed a break and he needs a more experienced teacher. But we really liked Henle. Zoo Keeper
My oldest is doing Latin Book One (available for free on Yahoo), and enjoying it. I like the oral reading sections, and the Latin to English/English to Latin work.
