Hoggirl
Hey, all! I am looking for a yummy recipe for a large (9 x 13) size peach cobbler that uses fresh peaches. I am NO pie crust maker, so it needs to NOT involve making a pie crust. However, I don't care if it has a batter or a crumble top. Thanks in advance for sharing those tried and true recipes. I just LOVE peaches.
dangermom
Here's my tried-and-true recipe: 1/2 c butter 1 c flour 1 c sugar 2 t baking powder 3/4 c milk salt pinch nutmeg 3/4 c fresh or canned peaches or other fruit Preheat oven to 350--melt butter in pan while oven warms. Mix everything except fruit and pour into pan. Add fruit. Bake 45-60 min. This is for a 9x9 pan; for long pan, increase by 1/2. Also, for a really neat recipe, look up "Peach Puzzle." Wow, science and dessert at the same time!
NevadaRabbit
This has been in my family for generations. It also works with fresh berries. My recipe card is blotched with berry and peach juice. Cover bottom of 9X13 pan with fruit (sliced, peeled fresh peaches or berries). Mix together: 3/4 cup sugar 1 Tbsp baking powder 1/2 cup milk 3 Tbsp butter (soft, not melted) 1/4 tsp salt 1 cup flour and pour over fruit. Mix 1 cup sugar and 1 Tbsp corn starch and sprinkle over top. Last, pour 2/3 cup boiling water over all. DO NOT STIR. Bake 45 mins at 375*. lynn
My sister got this from Paula Deen's resteraunt in Savannah. She made it for a picnic and it pretty much was gone within minutes. 4 cups peeled, sliced peachers 2 cups sugar divided 1/2 cup water 6T butter 1 1/2 cup self rising flour 1 1/2cups milk Preheat oven to 350. Combine peachers 1 c sugar and water in a saucepan mixwell. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10minutes. Remove from heat. Put the butter in a deep baking dish and place in oven to melt. Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do Not Stir. Spoon fruit on top and pour in syrup. Batter will rise to top of baking dish. Bake for 30-45minutes.
Laurel
We made this a few weeks ago, and then made several more batches. It was FABULOUS! http://www.berrycreekfarm.us/recipes/peach_cobbler.html

Tina
I just tried Jill's, but have to wait til later to eat it. Looks great, tho! How did you know I had some peaches and nectarines I needed to use up? I threw in the last of the fresh strawberries, too. Time to go picking again!
