jillian
I love the look of Artistic Pursuits and think that dd would love that but it's expensive. Is there anything else similar to it that isn't so pricey? We are using the Usborne Book of Art right now and Art for the Very Young for projects now. DD is 5 but will be 5.5 when we start next school year.
Jay3fer
We like Meet the Masters (on sale now through HSBC)! It has a wonderful balance of hands-on, theoretical and introduces kids in a solid way (at their own level, including very young kids) to some of the world's greatest artists. Kathleen in LV
We don't use a formal curriculum, but this site has lots of fun art project ideas for your daughter's age: http://www.mrsbrownart.com/index.htm Also, check out this blog for other neat ideas: http://www.redtedart.com/2012/04/13/exploring-the-great-artists-30-art-projects-for-kids/ We periodically read a storybook about a famous artist & do a related project or two. This picture book is part of a series of books that are fun & interesting for little ones (and available at our library): http://www.amazon.com/Matisse-Anholts-Artists-Children-Series/dp/0764160478/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3VAACII8N1PZR&coliid=I33ZTIB4TRD3TQ You can find famous artist coloring pages at these sites: http://www.supercoloring.com/pages/category/artsculture/famous-paintings/ http://www.color-me-online.com/masterpiece/paintings/index.html Hope that helps! jillian
I'm not going to lie, I hate piecing my own stuff together, like really it's difficult for me to keep up with something if I have to go through piecing together and coordinating a curriculum. PentecostalMom
I'm not going to lie, I hate piecing my own stuff together, like really it's difficult for me to keep up with something if I have to go through piecing together and coordinating a curriculum. Me too! I bought Atelier used. It is somewhat costly but also reusable so I will get my money's worth. My dd really loves art so I am going to get Art with a Purpose from Rod & Staff. It is inexpensive and I think my dd will love it! There is an online program called Creativity Express that I have looked over. It is inexpensive as well. Haven't decided to take the plunge but I don't want to get too much art.

jillian
I actually found a free program Great Artists 1 and 2 at Confessions of a Homeschooler. Going to look at that and then find good projects online or sign her up for a drawing class. She's always had amazing fine motor control and can draw quite well. ETA: my library has the books for reading too.
purduemeche
We love Artistic Pursuits - but honestly that may be due to our personality styles. For us it is worth the money.
LindaOz
I plan on doing art projects from this site in this coming year..... http://www.mrsbrownart.com/index.htm
skeeterbug
Have you heard of Home Art Studio? DVD based lessons, you only need pull together supplies. I second the artist studies from COAH, lesson plans all included, easy to do. I probably wouldn't start it until grade one though.
acsnmama
We really enjoy How Great Thou Art program. It also has DVD's. It's also for multiple years.
Spryte
We love Discovering Great Artists, too. This year we've been using Home Art Studio, and DS loves it. Easy to implement, and he does it independently.
