For example how to write a persuasive, comparison/contrast, descriptive, informative. Thanks

Sunshine State Sue
Not sure if this is what you're asking for, but here goes. We used Write Shop 1 & 2 in 6th-8th grade. It covers all you've asked for and more. It's geared for students in 6th-10th grade. You may read my review here. From their website: WriteShop I teaches the basics of descriptive, informative, and narrative writing. WriteShop II offers more challenging assignments, including descriptive narration, point of view, narrative voice, persuasion, and essays. Essays include: writing an ad, opinion essay (persuasion), compare/contrast, essays that describe or define, and timed essays. HTH!
Laura in CA
Essays and Term Papers I love this book -- concise, but has a section on various types of essays, telling how it is structured, how to do research for it, and showing multiple drafts of the same essay up to the finished product. BTW I'm sure I learned about it on this board ... where else?? :-) ~Laura
