  3. I have tried many writing curriculum over the years. One curriculum that my anti-writer did very well with last year was 7sisters homeschool . com. Lessons are short but to the point. It is self directed and there is No fluff. http://7sistershomeschool.com/products-page/writing-3/ There is a specific middle school curriculum, but the introductory to high school guides are also very doable for a 8th grader.
  4. This school year I found 7sisters home school writing curriculum to fit the bill for us. It is broken down into smaller bits and doesn't overwhelm the child. Both my kids have requested the next level for next year, one of whom really, really dislikes writing. I haven't tried the lit studies yet, but i have them on my list for next year to try. http://7sistershomeschool.com/products-page/ For grammar we use English grammar 101 online. It is free and automatically graded. I have my kids print their work and then we go over what they missed. If they missed too many the lesson gets repeated. http://lessons.englishgrammar101.com/EnglishGrammar101/Foreword.aspx

Some items I have bookmarked: US History I http://education-portal.com/academy/course/us-history-i.html (free) Yale open courses american revolution http://oyc.yale.edu/history/hist-116#sessions Economics education portal (free) http://education-portal.com/academy/course/macroeconomics-course.html (free) Online econonmics courses http://mruniversity.com/ Government http://education-portal.com/academy/course/business-law-course.html (free) World Geography: Mapping the world with art http://store.ellenjmchenry.com/?product_cat=mapping-the-world America: The Story of UsDVD (History Channel) (library) Cartoons for the Classroom (once a week) http://nieonline.com/aaec/cftc.cfm#
  11. We went mostly digital last year and it worked really well for us. I like that it is very flexible and if something doesn't work I just quickly substitute something else. If you like onenote, another resource I love for school is Padlet.com. Sounds like a fun year you planned.
  12. Here is one: http://www.shopmammachia.com/ I know that my local hfs has lots raw rood bars or veggie snacks. Lara bars are another one that comes to mind. I also use the snack size ziplocks to package seeds and such for trips.
