PrincessMommy
Is there something in the water lately? I've gone my whole life and only knew of one person whose retina detached - until this year. This past year I've had 3 people in my life have this happen. Two of them have had it happen twice and had to go back for surgery. One may lose most/all of his site in that eye. He's in his 2nd surgery right now. Two friends are early 60's but this 3rd friend is in his late 40s. None of them wear contacts. I'm just curious, is anyone else noticing an uptick in this condition? Lolly
Possibly due to an increase in eye surgery to correct vision? Dh has had a detached retina, but he was at increased risk due to previous surgery.
Tap
I would guess that it has to do with the age of the people you spend time with. It is more common in people over the age of 40.
PrincessMommy
Possibly due to an increase in eye surgery to correct vision? Dh has had a detached retina, but he was at increased risk due to previous surgery. hmm, that makes ME nervous since I had lasik surgery 10 yrs ago. But, as far as I know only one had any type of eye surgery. I would guess that it has to do with the age of the people you spend time with. It is more common in people over the age of 40. but I've certainly known many people over 40 over my lifetime. It must just be a coincidence. Mabelen
Now that you are mentioning this, my boss' husband had surgery yesterday for this reason. He is 61, I don't know about his medical history.
