Cindyz
He's a good reader and enjoys reading everything from great picture books, chapter books and up to about early 4th grade reading level novels. I'd like them to be not too scary, but a little scary is ok. Suggestions? Thanks so much! Edited October 1, 2012 by Cindyz

Paige
I don't know how high this is on your scary meter, but all of my kids- even my 11yr old- love the picture book Tailypo. My school librarian read it to our class when I was little and I remember loving it. I was a little horrified when I read it to my kids, because I didn't remember it being so scary, but the kids loved it.
Aurelia
None of these are Halloween-themed specifically, but books that are tangentially related, in my mind anyway: The Witches (Dahl) No Flying in the House Catwings and its sequels Howl's Moving Castle - there's a film version of this, also The Children of Green Knowe (and An Enemy at Green Knowe - actually almost any of the series) A Series of Unfortunate Events (Snicket) The Graveyard Book - the first chapter might be too intense Liesl & Po I'm not totally sure of the reading levels for these, Catwings and No Flying should be pretty easily handled.
