I encourage you to focus on what is happening now. Just try to be there for your mom and sister. Both your mom and BIL have been selfish and DS shouldn't have to choose between them. Your mothers health issues need to be attended to IMMMEDIATELY, and I strongly suggest one of you get power of attorney since she is not able to make sound decisions. The stresses of life can take and awful toll and since BIL appears to have been harboring ill feelings against your mom, he used her as an excuse for his anger. He needs to understand and accept she is ill. You and your siblings need to step in and make your mom eat right and get medical care. Surely there are assistance programs that would help your mom get the care she needs. Time will heal some of this, but DM and BIL need to make amends for the sake of your sister.
