Punchie
How does one use the math journal that goes with RS B? Today's lesson called for it, but I can't figure out how we're supposed to incorporate it. The journal is a full page of blank grid. Thank you! Sew happily ever after
Write 1 number per box.
d.g.
Ok, this might get me metaphorically burned at the stake, but... we don't. DS doesn't like doing the math journal, so we do all "math journal" work on dry erase boards or scrap paper (if it needs to be saved for some reason). I should admit, I'm not entirely a RS purist; we supplement with math-drills.com worksheets and plenty of Scholastic math activity books. Like any other program/book/curriculum, I make RS work for us instead of the other way around.

I don't recall saving much, if anything, from one day to another.
Soror
I don't really remember using it in b but in D we've used it quite a bit. I don't think it is that big of a deal.
skeeterbug
Ok, this might get me metaphorically burned at the stake, but... we don't. :iagree: I'll get burned at the stake too!!! I tried it when it came up in B for awhile. I gave up the first time one of the things we were instructed to write in the math journal would not fit. We're in C. I just don't see the point of writing down all these random equations in the math journal. If I really thought we needed it I would write on regular paper, I don't like the boxes. It's the whiteboard for us, too!
Tonia
The math journal has helped my daughter learn how to properly line up her math problems when she has to write them out. But I certainly wouldn't be a stickler about it - if you don't like it, don't use it!
Punchie
Thank you! I just didn't get how she was supposed to use the grid. I didn't see anything in the book explaining it, so we just skipped it. I like the idea of doing the math journal problems on the whiteboard. That makes more sense to me.
