Katy
I put in wildflower beds a few years ago. Most of the time, they look great all summer long. This drought has made them all turn brown before even going to seed. A few of the plants still have green leaves at the bottom, but all the flowers are dead. Can I just do my fall weedwhack and mulch now so things look better? Do I need to go in and deadhead everything by hand? I typically avoid that, as I have a huge lot and it might take several days. eta: these dead flowers don't have that pretty dried look they get in the fall. They just make the beds look like a weedy unkept mess.
TravelingChris
Are you getting rain now or soon? By deadheading, many of these plants will bloom again this season.

Katy
No, I doubt the rain will return to a normal level this year, from what the local weather people say. Thank you both for your help. I'm glad to know cleaning it up the easy way won't hurt the plants more than the drought already has.
