Glad I asked below about Chalkdust Elementary maths. Now I am on the hunt for a 5th grade math for my daughter next year.

We are currently using Abeka and not happy with it. I looked at Singapore and i am not sure about it.

We have used Saxon and MCP in the past, we don't want to use Saxon again.

Horizons worked really well with the boys until I needed additional assurance and assistance with teaching. The colors and interesting twists on doing some of the "same ol, same ol's" kept it interesting. I hated Saxon for K-3rd but it fits perfectly for us from 4th grade on. I never would have guessed it. Also, the double teaching from DIVE and me has really solidified what they learn.

Hope that helps!

She is not a math person at all. She doesn't need manipulatives, sometimes I come up with something, when she just can't grasp what is being taught, to use them every day, would not go well.

You sound like a mathy-type person which is really a huge plus. My second DS is not a mathy person and we are doing quite well with Singapore. When he needs review or extra time with a concept I back up and give that to him. We also use Key to Series, and Singapore's Topical Problems Sums books to add some extra practice to the mix.
