Alicia64
We're meeting friends tomorrow to first have lunch and then visit the National Museum of the Marines -- but we don't have a clue where to eat. We're trying to find something relatively close, moderately priced. Any ideas? And thanks!! Alley
Alice
The musuem is in Triangle which is about 45 min south of DC. It’s near Quantico. The only place I know of nearish there is in Woodbridge (maybe 15 minutes north). Dixie Bones, really good BBQ. http://www.dixiebones.com/index.html

I'm leaning toward eating in the Tun Tavern that's in the National Museum of Marines. What do you think? Bad idea? Thanks for helping, Alley
Alice
I’ve actually never been to the Museum. We’re rarely down that way but went to Dixie Bones once because we really like BBQ. My husband has been to the museum and thought it was very great. He didn’t eat there so can’t help you. :)
bettyandbob
The museum is great. I don't remember anyplace to eat there. My son really loved it.
NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
I have a recommendation --- Bella Cafe! It's just south of the museum at "Boswell's Corner". Wraps, sandwiches and their famous "Brainfreeze" shakes. It's an alcohol-free, family-friendly shop. Here's their website. http://www.mybellacafe.com/ If you end up going there, please tell Will (the owner) or Jackie at the counter that Zack's mom sent you! Friday holiday traffic on is horrific -- Bella's is just down the street (Jeff Davis Hwy) from the Museum. LibraryLover
Here's a link to various eateries in the area: http://business.intuit.com/boorah-restaurants/best-of/26869/VA/Woodbridge.html
NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
My dh used to commute between Stafford (just south of Quantico) and Woodbridge. Friday traffic is generally horrific. It would take him over an hour to go the 17 miles between our house and Woodbridge. Longer during the summer months. If you don't want to try Bella's on Route 1, just south of the Museum, then continue south and go into Stafford (right onto Garrisonville Road/Rt 610). There is a major shopping center (Stafford Marketplace) on your right and the following restaurants nearby: Panera Five Guys Kaboobs Bob Evan's AppleBees Chili's Buffalo Wild Wings Marlin & Rays *Poncho Villa's *Jimmy the Greek's *Vinny's *locally-owned and delicious! Enjoy your visit! Kd
Kathleen in VA
There are two eateries right in the museum. My son used to work there and he thinks both are overpriced and the food is so-so. But, it is convenient. My son ate at Bella Cafe a lot - it's just a short trip down Rt. 1 south.
LibraryLover
The Globe might be an option. I think it might have another name, as I can't find it. But I thought it was near the museum. Padrinho's is in Dumfries. It's simple and casual Italian and family fare. Pizza etc. ETA: I did find Padrinho's. http://www.yelp.com/biz/padrinos-ii-pizza-restaurant-dumfries

Here's the link: http://theglobeandlaurel.com/ They are actually a little closer than Bella Cafe and have a very interesting history. There are military artifacts in the restaurant dating back to the Civil War and lots of other military memorabilia.
