Those who cook with wines, etc...

Recommended Posts

I bought a Madeira and a Port for some Julia Child's recipes... and now that I've used them in my recipe, I am unsure how to store them... Do I store the bottles that have been opened in a cupboard or in the fridge??

Thanks!

My cooking sherry, madeira and marsala are all with the various bottles of cooking oils, vinegars and shelf stable sauces in a cupboard. As for port, it doesn't last. We drink it fairly soon after buying it for a recipe. What little we do store gets stored with the drinking wines in the pantry.

Both can be left on the counter. Port will still be drinkable in 2 months, though the other will not be drinkable more than a few days once opened. You can still cook with it though... I've cooked with wine left out up to about a month.
