Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
Dd just informed me she does not want to study sharks but dolphins. Luckily the planning stage was early on so changing is not a real problem but I cannot think of activities to go with our study. Any ideas? bpaharris
Dolphin Tales was promoted as a big homeshool movie. They had a a website that had a lap book the student could make. My daughter had a lot of fun making the lap book. You should be able to google it??
Jess4879
Here's a freebie from HOAC that might work -- I haven't seen it and I can't find any details on it - but the title suggests dolphins..LOL http://www.handsofachild.com/freebie.html

We are going to read an old book called Children of the Sea about a boy who finds an injured dolphin and helps it. She will read Dolphine Adventure plus a few non-fiction books. Lori D.
Some fiction at about a 3rd grade reader level that our DS really enjoyed when he was in his dolphin kick: - Dolphin Adventure: A True Story (Grover) - Dolphin Treasure (Grover) - Dolphins and Me (Reed) - Dolphins at Daybreak: Magic Treehouse #9 (Osborne) And Non-Fiction: - Nine True Dolphin Stories (Davidson) - Dolphins! (Step into Reading) (Bokoske) Not personally familiar with these, but they look very enjoyable: - Winter's Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again (Hatkoff) - National Geographic Readers: Dolphins (Stewart) - Everything Dolphin: What Kids Really Want to Know About Dolphins (Crisp) - IMAX; on DVD: Dolphins (c. 2000) -- a lot about the people who work with dolphins
Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
Thank you all. These are great suggestions (printed out this thread). I had originally planned on a 2 week study but am now thinking 4...dd is happy. She is enjoying our science but wants to take a detour for a while.
