Lesson learned from my daughter

I have this awful habbit of having to have everything ready and all set up to start something. I always thought that being ready was a good thing, now I have changed my mind.

My daughter came into the kitchen this morning, all full of excitement over making a nature journal. I told her I was getting some supplies together so we can start doing nature study as part of our school. (I am waiting for a book I ordered to come in.)

Her answer to me, "why wait?" And she proceeded to make a page in her notebook. She went outside and climbed a tree, she watched the squirrels, and she found tiny wildflowers in our yard.

I missed out on all of this, all because I can't start yet because I am waiting for a book on nature study. I want to kick myself for missing out on the excitement and the fun of being in the moment. From now on I am going to try to follow my daughter's example, and jump in. Why wait?
