mom2jrcsc
Which do you read first - this one or "The Blue Sword" (the prequel)?
Sandy in Indy
Actually, The Hero and the Crown is the prequel. It will work either way, but dd and I read The Blue Sword first.
Amira
I agree that it doesn't matter which one you read first, but I might recommend reading The Blue Sword since it's fun to discover things along with the heroine in that book. You know things she doesn't know if you've already read The Hero and the Crown. What great books.
dangermom
I adored those books when I was a teen!
orangearrow
Two of my very favorite books... I can't wait til my girls are old enough to read them. :001_smile: I read Hero first and remember being glad that I did, but now I can't remember exactly why! lol Looks like it's time to re-read these!
Harriet Vane
Robin McKinley has an absolute gift for making wildly surreal events come off naturally and believably. I have enjoyed all her books a great deal. Start with The Hero and The Sword. My other favorite is Beauty.
coffeegal
My other favorite is Beauty. :iagree::party: It's on my shelves to this day and I still happily sit down to read Beauty. The biggest problem with Robin McKinley is she has never written enough books. :crying:
Jacquelyn in NC
I read The Blue Sword first, but it would work either way. Great books! I really enjoyed them when I was a teen, even more wen I found out that Robin McKinley used to work at the bookstore that I would shop at in Brunswick, Maine. She was gone by that point, but it was still a big deal for me.
