cjgrubbs
I have always felt like Monday was the start of a new week and would strive to get it started well. My kiddos however, give me the most trouble on Mondays. :tongue_smilie:You would think that I'm asking them to do something they have never heard of before when they look at their lessons. I mean it is basically the same thing we've been doing for the last 120 (or so) days of school, just the next step. I know my children need improvement in their attitudes and we are working on it (or maybe I'm working on it but they really aren't :001_huh:.) I know some people say when things aren't going well that you should just call it a day. But I fear if I do that once they would catch on and then we would never get school done. (I'm obviously not talking about sickness, etc.) Just needed to vent.... and hopefully hear from someone else that this is not just my kids. myfunnybunch
:grouphug: It's not just your kids. It's hard getting back into routine after the weekend. For me too! Cat
Dana
We're taking today off because my son said he didn't think his attitude was up to doing school today. But he'll learn... consequence is no electronics until the day is made up. I can guarantee tomorrow he'll be saying, "I wish I did school yesterday." Grumble. Stayseeliz
I really TRY to love Mondays. Really I do. But I don't like them. Today started off with quite a bang when my 11mo barfed all over me then had a disgusting diaper (guess we're not over that virus yet). Then when I tried to wash sheets and sleepers the washing machine leaked all over the laundry room. Uuuuuuuugh! Mondays I do not like you!! Random
It's challenging getting back to work after a day or two of rest. I think it's part immaturity, part laziness for my children. They think life should be one extended weekend. (Wouldn't that be great!?!?) "Every other day...every other day...every other day of the week is fine, But whenever Monday comes, you can find me cryin', all of the time..." NanceXToo
Do you start your day with something fun? You could make a point of doing that. If it's nice enough in the mornings, maybe go for a walk and get in a little fresh air and exercise and nature and see if you notice anything interesting or feed some birds and squirrels or collect some nature items or whatever, then come back and maybe do a read aloud during breakfast/morning snack. Then start with a subject they enjoy most. Starting the day off with a positive experience and attitude may make the rest of the day more likely to follow.
