TheApprentice
If I was to get this program for my middle schooler, do I need Grammar for Middle School and Sentence Composing for the Middle Schooler? There seems to be some overlap.

ReneTL
:lurk5: I'm also wondering if I need to speed through the elementary level first or if I can just jump in with the middle school books.
Bloggermom
You can jump into Sentence Composing for Middle School: A Worktext on Sentence Variety and Maturity and Grammar for Middle School: A Sentence-Composing Approach without having done the elementary series. Heathermomster
You can jump into Sentence Composing for Middle School: A Worktext on Sentence Variety and Maturity and Grammar for Middle School: A Sentence-Composing Approach without having done the elementary series. So do you need both books? Thank-you..
Momling
I've looked at these books from the elementary to the college level one and there isn't all that much difference between them. With very few modifications, I'm sure I could use the elementary with a college student and the college one for an elementary student. The model sentences are more kid-friendly in the elementary one (Charlotte's Web vs. Stephen King) . I'd suggest, if you think you want to use more than one volume, you start with the elementary book first.... just so you have other books to use later on. Trilliums
DS uses Grammar for Middle School and it is very usable on its own. Never have used the other one.
missmoe
So do you need both books? Thank-you.. We have both books. We are working through the Grammar book together. And then I plan to make the second book more independent. The Grammar book explains the grammar terms a little bit.

HomeScholar
My DS has both the elementary and middle school books (all 4 books). He's currently working though the elementary books together. The lessons aren't exactly the same in each book, but they are close enough that it's easy to combine the two. Neither set is very large so we decided to do all 4 books this year.
