ProudGrandma
I need a couple, fairly easy projects that my 2 boys--ages 7 and 9 (with the help of their dad) make for their grandfathers for Christmas. Both grandfathers don't need some useless thing sitting around and it doesn't have to be super fancy....just kind of nice. Any thoughts for me??? kathymuggle
Bird houses? My 8 yr old daughter made one, I cut the wood but she did the hammering. You do do bird feeders instead. We also got to research the names of the birds around here and the specifications they like in a bird house - perch or no perch, how big is the door, how big is the overhang.... ProudGrandma
I honesty don't think either one would appreciate something like that...last year they made wooden boxes (one was a remote control holder for the Grandpa that loves to watch sprting events on TV and one was for holding computer disks for the grandpa who loves messing with his computer)...they build it, and stained it. kathymuggle
Are they close to their grandfathers? Maybe they could take or find some pictures of them and their grandfathers and put them in a an album of sorts? My mother loves photos from the kids.... What are the grandfathers hobbies? You might be able to arrange something around that.

Grandfather #1: camping..but they have what they need...and they probably won't be doing that much longer Grandfather #2: computers

Miss Marple
We always had our boys bake/cook something. Both grandfathers enjoyed homemade candy, caramelized nuts, frosted sugar cookies, etc. I know it's not a real "manly" project, but it is something that was enjoyed and the boys learned some great kitchen skills. T'smom
I'd look for ideas at Pinterest. There are lots of cool things there!
ktgrok
You can make soap dishes out of wood door molding from Lowes. They could cut it to size with help from Dad, then sand and seal it themselves. Useful and homemade.
ktgrok
Grandfather #1: camping..but they have what they need...and they probably won't be doing that much longer Grandfather #2: computers A cute thing to make up for the camping hobby would be a small first aid kit, there are directions online I bet. I know my son made a small pocket one out of a film canister! It had all the basics. For computer stuff maybe getting a personalized mouse pad made, with the boys ' picture on it? Walgreens and such will make those for you.

dkholland
Check out paracord bracelets. I know lots of older guys and younger guys who wear them. Easy to make intsructions at http://www.instructables.com/id/Paracord-bracelet-with-a-side-release-buckle/ My one ds also made a key fob for my key ring and he also said you could make a belt. Desert Rat
You can also make picture frames. Add a picture of the boys with their grandfather.
