jewellsmommy
At what avg. age did your dc start clipping their own finger and toe nails?
Lorien
I voted 'other' because all three boys started at different ages. Ds 8 has been doing all of his own nail care for almost a year (roughly). The other two only started recently, and ds 6 still prefers that I help him. Pamela H in Texas
oooh, I want to see how this looks for everyone. However, the 9mo, 20mo, and 3yr old's nails are the ones that need to be done WAY frequently. Guess they probably won't do it soon. The 5yo has some major nails also. The 4yo just chews his off. So much easier (but I would never tell HIM that).
Tress
He, you didn't include '2yo's who sneek away with the scissors to cut their own nails, everytime you turn your back on them' in your poll options :toetap05:.
Danestress
It can't think of why they wouldn't be. The worst thing that could happen is that they nick themselves with nail clippers. Hardly a trauma. But with three kids, I don't think anyone ever had a nail clipper related injury.
Julie Smith
My eldest started really young, perhaps as young as 4. He was interested in doing so and just did it. I didn't even realized till I noticed that I wasn't doing it anymore. My youngest needs trip nails for piano and violin. He has no interest in clipping his own nails. No interest what so ever. Paige
I quit when their feet get bigger or close to as big as mine. Ewww!!!! So, with DS, I stopped right around the time he turned 8. I wear a size 2/3 kids. He was wearing a size 1.5 or so and I couldn't take it. I still have to remind him to do it now and he's 10. My older DDs are 7 and small so their feet aren't close to as big as mine yet. They prefer me to do it and I don't mind, but I'd let them do it themselves if they wanted to do it. Splinter
My three older kids all do it themselves, but they still need reminders.
Mona100
My daughter started around 4. We had such big battles over the clipping of the nails that in frustration I gave her the clippers and told her to do them herself. I never had to do them ever again. Yipe! Sneaky children. I hope that child still has all their toes. That's why an 'other' is always included. It's the unwritten poll rule. :D
