Bang!Zoom!
Probably could have picked a better day or frame of energy to do the intro to her poetry lessons. This is her third draft; the lesson itself lasted probably an hour, but I think something clicks for her here. Just sharing a rough third draft: today our sister worried as she drank her coffee like an animal A free animal full of dazzle and power She felt the brilliant breeze of the wild sky She worried about her brother’s wild fever She whispered an enchanted song into her hands Words to purify him to heal her brother’s wild contagious fever Going to his bedside She whispered to him “Do you remember when we were young playing outside in the beautiful snow?†(Lots of refining left to do but I think this is a nice start..) :001_smile:

Bang!Zoom!
I have until Monday to submit the entire lesson plan; but the BIG IDEA here is that she learns a form of poetry called "pastoral poetry". I'm going to be introducing her to a few of my favorite authors/artists in this. Mary Oliver, Anne Lamott, Natalie Goldberg are the main guides..maybe some Pablo Neruda. We'll be using magnetic poetry for brainstorming; eventually making a full costume for a poetry slam performance. She'll journal all the work, turn it into a final project at the end. The costuming she's going to make on her own is going to be modeled after the actress in the video for Fever Ray - "When I Grow Up". She'll have a good time tearing up fabric from the thrift shop and sewing up something outrageous. Fever Ray (inspiration for outfit) is here: She has some early sketches for the shoes she's making-just some simple canvas ones emblazoned with beads, glitter and permanent markers with famous poetry quotes covering them. Should be cool to see what she comes up with as a portfolio on this one. :)
Roadrunner
That's very, very good! Get MCT for her. His poetry study (along with everything else) will inspire her even more!
