Once Again
How difficult is it for an average student to go from Saxon 76 to Algebra 1? I'd like to do it, but I'm concerned I'll miss something if we skip Algebra 1/2. What have your experiences been?
obsidian
8/7 or 7/6? I have heard that averaging 80%+ on 8/7 tests means the kchild is ready to move on to Algebra 1. However, I think skipping to Algebra 1 from 7/6 would be difficult.

They are considered pre-algebra and your dc will need those skills for Algebra 1.

JudoMom
You don't need to do both 8/7 and 1/2, but you need to do one of them before Algebra 1.
CupOCoffee
I am new here, but I was coming to ask this very question: is 8/7 necessary or is pre-algebra and 8/7 basically the same. So thanks for answering this already! Coffee
Jim
If the student is struggling toward the end of 7/6 and could benefit from a review then move to 8/7. If they finish 7/6 strong go to Algebra 1/2. Completion of either leaves them poisedd to move onto Algebra 1. As a PP stated, no need to do both 8/7 and 1/2. That would be overkill, though they would know their stuff.
