SL Hands on Activities?

I've been wondering about the hands-on activities as well. Perhaps, we want to go to the SL forum and ask there.

Don't you have to be a Core member to post questions? I'm a bit confused by their forum! I have gone on & read posts, but only get so far.... I'm not very computer literate, however.:D

I saw a print off of what was included on the CD at a book fair last week and wasn't very impressed. I was looking at Core B (1). It seemed that the CD had links to other websites that had activities and print outs. I guess they did a Google search and then picked out the best links. It's included in the core, but I wouldn't pay extra for it.

We just received our Core B order, and yes, the Core Tips CD is basically a list of website links for things, week by week. I think it will be helpful for us, but I've also purchased the History Pockets Ancient Civilizations and the Handle on the Arts Core 1 hands-on package to go along with it. With all these things, plus all the extra resources suggested on the Sonlight forums, I think we'll have plenty to do.

I took a peek at the samples for the Core Tips CD online and it mostly looked like an interactive web links sort of document. That isn't great for us because we have super slow dial-up. I have purchased some lapbooks from the appropriate time periods to do with the children for our core B+C this fall.

Tammi - their forum has different levels of participation. There is the free access, which just gives you a few forums. The full access you can either pay for or buy a core to access. It is a bit confusing!

Yep. They used to be free on the website. I downloaded them then. I think that they updated some links, but other than that they are still the same. We don't really do a lot of printouts--so the CD is not really that valuable to us.

The Tips were free before this year. I hurried and downloaded all that were available. Honestly, I wouldn't buy them. There are a few gems in there, but I would rather use some activity books from Amazon that relate to the material. This year with Core B (ancient) we're doing SOTW and AG. The activities have much more quality in there.
