Nakia
I am looking for a living book about the Trail of Tears for my oldest dd. Any suggestions? Thanks!
3peasinapod
I just thought of The Trail of Tears by Joseph Bruchac. It is a level 2nd-4th grade reader, but the information presented is done well. It is profusely illustrated with watercolor pictures. I'm not sure if a 10yo would like it, though. :001_huh: I think the information is detailed enough for an introduction only to the Trail of Tears. I wish I could help more, but wanting to bump, as I'm interested in more too. :bigear:
mcconnellboys
I have this one in my pile, but we haven't started it yet: Trails of Tears, American Indians Driven from their Lands, Jeanne Williams.
Pata
If your looking for a reader, how about Soft Rain? I've only read the first few chapters so far, but it seems very good.

happypamama
I have Only the Tears Remain, by Alex W. Bealer, on my list for next year, but I have not read it yet. (I think the recommendation came from Guest Hollow.) Thanks for posting the thread -- if our library doesn't have that one, I appreciate the other suggestions too.
