happyWImom
How/where do you display your dc nature collections???? I love that they are so nature oriented, but feel like I'm going crazy, here. We have rock collections, pinecones, shells, feathers; you name it. Give me some ideas!:001_smile:

I think it's part of the decorating. :001_smile: :lurk5:
Hyzenthlay in Pa.
I read about putting them behind glass in display cases / china closets and putting the china or brick a brack into storage. They are often on sale for mothers day or found used.
ChristusG
For feathers and leaves, I'd flatten them in some sort of binder that can be flipped through.
happyWImom
Thanks for the great ideas!! I especially liked the fact that no one suggested trimming down the collections.
Chris in VA
We had a nature table by the door, a nature notebook, and window sills. Like ChristusG, we used page protectors to hold feathers and leaves (pressed first in a phone book). We did glean from time to time--hard to throw out that half-a-butterfly-wing, but sometimes necessary! :D
mcconnellboys
Shadow boxes from Michael's, or, if you want access to them, large egg cartons make nice dividers for smaller items (you could paint them if you want a nicer look....) We use standard, cardboard entomology boxes for bug collections (keeping them in the dark helps them maintain color longer). We use the egg cartons for small shells and for seeds, nuts, and cones.... I love the egg carton idea! I'm going to try to get my mom to do that in her classroom. Thanks :001_smile:
