iamrachelle
I just finished watching the first episode. I've cried like a baby for the past hour trying to imagine what our life is going to be like next year with DH deployed for the year. That is all. Mrs Mungo
I'm sorry. There are a lot of military wives who have been there. We're here if you need to talk. :grouphug:

He has been there a year. Make sure you surround yourself with support. :grouphug: ETA: I am not a military wife, but I feel for you guys. iamrachelle
We've been doing this for 16 years so it is safe to say it's not our first deployment. I'm not sure why this one is hitting me so hard. Maybe it's because the kids are actually older this time and definitely aware that he is going to be gone. And a year is, well, a year. I know that's it's going to be okay and am fortunate enough to have a fabulous support system. Thanks for the kind words, girls.
lovinmyboys
I watched it and totally bawled. Deployments are awful, but the coming home part is amazing. Its been 7 mos since DH came home from his last one and I kind of don't remember how bad the deployment was, but I do remember the joy of him coming home...not that I want to repeat it. I'm probably going to explain this badly, but I think at some point before a deployment they start to mentally separate in their minds. The last month they are home part of them is already downrange. That's the hardest part for me. That's almost harder than them actually being gone.

DH calls it compartmentalizing.:D
Mrs Mungo
Yep, you nailed it. DH calls it compartmentalizing.:D It feels so lonely to have them gone when they are still home. That is the worst. :( :grouphug:
