ktgrok
We are going to be there the first of April. My son has never seen snow, and really wants to. I hear that the snow is already melting, but I was wondering if there were any higher/colder areas within say an hours drive? I'd love to make his wish to see snow come true, if we can. Thanks! ktgrok
ok, I'd be willing to drive 2 hours, if there was more to do there than just look at the snow. Any suggestions?
cjzimmer1
Well the North Woods might still have some snow since they are pretty dense in places so I would think it would be harder for the sun to penetrate. But I'm not sure exactly how far north you would have to go. Maybe 2 hours maybe farther (I'm from the southern part of the state and haven't been over that way very often). The other thing you would have to consider is what kind of weather we have this spring. Some years it's so warm that I have gotten sunburned in March and other years I have seen it snow it May (although it usually isn't sticking to the ground). Sorry I can't be more helpful other than to go north. Oh one other suggestion, if there are any down hill ski slopes around there and if it's still cool they may have snow on them. It's probably manmade snow but it still looks the same.
Hillary in KS
My in-laws live in La Crosse. When I spoke with them on Tuesday there was still PLENTY of snow. If you want to PM me when it's closer to April 1st, I can call them.
ktgrok
Thanks! I think there is a ski area not far from them, and we will look for others. Or a mountain type area?
LostSurprise
April 1? That's a toss up. Most places within 2 hours will not have snow on that date (although it's not unheard of for it to snow in April or May--they are temporary). I would suggest a ski slope as well, although April 1 some places in the woods/without direct sunlight will still have a little snow. Bug's Mom
I live in La Crosse. There's still quite a bit on the ground in most places with a bit more scheduled for tonight...by April though? Hard to say. I can keep you posted. How long will you be in town?
