nrg
Fir tree growing in a pot. Roll it out for the year. Roll it in for Christmas. Except for one year when a praying mantis placed her egg sack on the trunk. It stayed outside with decorations so the baby mantises would be cold and safe in their sack. cherylw
We have 3 trees up so I voted for both...although the real tree is a cedar dh and boys cut off the farm...not a tree farm. I looked at getting one from a tree farm but we didn't need to spend any rxtra money. Cedars were very common in our area when I was young. But I will add that they really don't make good Christmas trees because the limbs are so flimsy and it's really hard to find one with a good shape..but they smell good, it was free, and it's reminscent of our childhoods. We have a fake one that we've had for 13 years or so in the front window and a small white one (with just lights) in the middle window upstairs. I normally try to do a theme on the main tree but I sat back and let the boys take over this year...I figure I'll have enough years to do that when they are "too big" for decorating. Here is a picture...if I did it right!
funschooler5
Real noble fir, which we get from my parents' property for free every year. I couldn't imagine having a fake tree, it's just not the same. I have to have that Christmas tree smell in the house!
KarenNC
Two small prelit tabletop-sized fake trees (in green ;)). One is decorated for Solstice using solar imagery, the other for Christmas using decorations meaningful to the history of our family. kalphs
Ours is a Yule tree. I think it's nice that it's an inclusive poll. Oh, we do make a Yule wreath from real greens every year. You are welcome! The Yule wreath sounds like a fun project to make. Could you please share how to make one? Thank you! :)
BMW
Real tree here... DH insists and 12yos is the one who LOVES the smell (we all love it, too, but he particularly loves it). I cringe at spending money on it and wish for a fake one many years... And we use it for a family bon-fire a few months into the next year and have a lovely evening with that event... Dmmetler
I'm allergic to pine, cedar and everything else in that family, so it's fake all the way for me. I can't go to church once they put up the Chrismon tree. Since I'm also allergic to Cinnamon, pretty much I'm living on antihistamines and keeping the epi-pen handy from October-Jan.
