Old Dominion Heather
My grandmother had a book that she read about 10 years ago. It was set in Scotland. A woman leaves her job (in London?), possibly she was fired, or maybe just a vacation. She goes to Scotland and rents/buys this house that is in bad condition. There is a landlord type guy that she falls for. It was probably by a romance type author, but wouldn't have been too lusty-busty, since she doesn't really read that type. There was a little tea in it though. Any ideas? I'd like to find it for her.
*~Tina~*
Could it have possibly been set in Tuscany? Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes It was made into a movie as well.
Old Dominion Heather
No. She said it had lots of descriptions of the heath and people driving Range Rovers. Thanks, though. Maybe she would like that one. :)
Caroline
Is it possible she left Australia? I read one this summer that kind of sounds like it. The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.
Little Nyssa
The only Scotland books I know are the Sunday Philosophy Club books by Alexander McCall Smith--- maybe not the book you are looking for, but they are excellent.

Liza Q
It sounds like one of Rosamund Pilcher's books - lots of Scotland (and Cornwall and London) and Range Rovers and Agas and just a hint of tea. Maybe Winter Solstice - there is a woman from London who spends Christmas in Scotland in a rented house. HTH!
Jami
It's Katie Fforde's "Stately Pursuits" I think. http://www.amazon.com/Stately-Pursuits-Katie-Fforde/dp/0312206763/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290911106&sr=8-1 I went through a Katie Fforde phase a couple of years ago. They're all very similar (to each other and other British chick lit) but fun. :)
