Update on my brother

Recommended Posts

My brother was moved out of the ICU onto the regular floor yesterday and they hope to discharge him to home tomorrow. The CT scan, MRI, EEG, EKG, spinal tap, blood tests, and urine tests have all been clear so his condition is still somewhat of a mystery and they are speculating that he either had a virus or a form of Lyme's disease. He has some residual weakness on the right side but is sharp as a tack again and is ready to go home.

Thanks for the prayers.

Thank God! Those were some scary symptoms!

Was he dehydrated? I ask because my dh had something similar this past summer - he was not making sense when talking, hallucinating, etc. He was not able to carry on a conversation. He never passed out and he always recognized me and the kids. But, it was a VERY scary couple of days (and an expensive hospital stay while they figured it out!).

They never had anything come out positive, so they just said he must have been dehydrated (it was in the 90s that day and he'd been outside most of that day working on the yard).

Jennifer, I don't know that they looked at dehydration... They looked for infection, stroke, aneurysm, BP issues, diabetes, etc....

I just found out he went home today. :) He can't drive for 3 mos and he already has found a ride for the 20 mile drive between his house and the college where he teaches. My SIL said he is looking forward to real food, his treadmill, and sleeping without people staring at him. Sounds like himself.
