Halcyon
If your child could do a given section of the Singapore IP easily, would you require him/her to do the Workbook as well? I know that generally the WB is done first, but today we decided to work on the IP first, as my son was not finding the workbook challenging enough, and he did the IP section happily. Would you have him go back and do the workbook, just for extra practice' sake?
TKDmom
No. If dc can do a section in the IP book, he's already mastered the concepts in the workbook. Going back to do the workbook would just be demotivating busywork, IMO.
Dana
I'd probably look over the WB problems and if I saw an interesting problem or something I wanted more practice in I might have him do a couple of additional problems. I probably would not have him do all of the workbook though.

A bit of drill is a good thing; busywork is not. Thanks.
nmoira
Would you have him go back and do the workbook, just for extra practice' sake? No. A child can't do the IP without having mastered the material. As long as you don't skip the reviews later on, I'd move on.
Crimson Wife
No. Many families with bright kids don't even use the workbook at all but just the practices in the text and the IP.

I had no idea. I assumed it was better to 'cover it all", particularly in math. Thanks.
