Guest
I am sure this has been asked but since a quick search didn't come up with the answer - How much water should a person be drinking daily? I recently read to take 1/2 your body weight and drink that many ounces. If you exercise (moderately) add about another 8 oz. I am having a tough time with this. I'm wondering how much some of the "healthy" people here consume?
grace'smom
I heard from a doctor to aim for 1/3 to 1/2 your body weight in ounces, depending on activity level.

I've heard anything from 64oz to 8oz per every 10lb of body weight (seems a lot to me). During the summer, I try to drink at least 6-7 8oz cups but I don't just drink plain water but add a spritz of lemon to it. So much nicer! milovany
I just drink when I'm thirsty. Probably drink about 2 glasses a day or less. Seem to be very healthy! I have no physical ailments. :)

This is what I always thought until I started researching it lately. I am having some health issues, so I thought that water might be one of the easy things I could try to do to help. LizzyBee
The urologist who did my dd's kidney stone surgery told her that her urine should be light yellow and not smell strong. He said the amount you drink doesn't matter.
Pretty in Pink
I just note my urine color and make sure I drink enough to keep it clear to pale yellow. I've read all sorts of advice: 64 oz. per day, so many ounces depending on how much you weigh, soda/tea/alcohol does/doesn't count towards your total, etc. It just seems easier to me to check my urine when I pee. Pamela H in Texas
You have to consider a number of factors (liquids in foods, weight, etc). The best idea is probably the urine color.
grace'smom
What if your urine color is only darker 2 hours after you take a vitamin? Then it goes back to normal. Is that bad? Sorry if that's TMI.
justamouse
I am the WORST when it comes to drinking. I am a camel. I will go to bed and realize I am so thirsty that I need something *right there* and drink 3 huge glasses of water. My Dh carries around water like catastrophe is imminent and he may get thirsty. I tell him that the people will kill him for his water first, and I'll be able to get away and hide. *g*
