Sandra in NC
Go ahead and get a Twin XL. I wish we had done that for my son. He was plugging along at a regular rate, regular size and all of a sudden he shot up to 6'1". He's only 15 and still growing. I think we'll use our rebate check to buy him a longer bed. I've heard Memorial Day sales are the best time of year to buy mattresses. Any advice on what brand has the longest XL twin? I've read that Twin XL mattresses can vary from 79-83" long. JFSinIL
I need to do this, too - one kid has his feet hanging over the edge of the bed! I also will add - do not just get the cheapest mattress at the store - all my kid's beds are saggy and not supportive now. Sigh.
hsmom
Well, we won't need one here! We are a fairly short family over all.
Sunny
Yes! We got an XL Twin for my younger son, 12 and an XL FULL size for my almost 14 yo. He is already 5'10. The Full size is really nice because it isn't so narrow. As far as I know, all XL are the same length. Sheets are the big problem. Stores often do not carry them except for back to school days (dorm sales). We get the full XL from the mattress store or online.
unsinkable
You know what is funny --- my older brother is 6 ft. 2 in. and he slept on a twin "mates bed" until he was 21 (and moved away!) Looking back, I wonder how he did it!
abbeyej
Well, ds has a regular old twin. I'll be thrilled to death if he gets too tall for it someday. ;) (Given his father's height, that seems unlikely -- though if we can go back further in the gene pool, just maybe!)
