southcarolinamom
She is trying out in 2 weeks with a local children's theatre for a part in the comedic play Robin Hood. All the auditions are to be using the child's own choice of a 1 minute monologue (comedy). But the websites are overwhelming us! The monologues we have found are either too poorly written, not apppropriate, or not age appropriate for her. Can someone recommend a website that lists monologue ideas for teens? Thank you! :lurk5:
Night Elf
Not a website, but if you don't find any other resources, they have some little books full of them at the bookstore. We got 2 of them for my dd12 when she was thinking of auditioning. We got them from B&N.

Laura Corin
You might like to look at a Joyce Grenfell monologue on Youtube called 'George, don't do that'. She'd have to cut it down in length, but it's gentle and inoffensive. Laura
homeschoolva
http://rockymountainconservatorytheatre.com/id36.html http://www.whysanity.net/monos/ http://www.musicaltheatreaudition.com/shows/1materials/bigriver.htm http://www.stageagent.com/Shows/MonologuesView/1054 These are linked to specific monologues but the sites have many, just use the navigation links. Keep in mind a monologue does not have to be anything more than a paragraph or two from a book, or long quote from the child's favorite movie or TV show. We had kids do parts from the gymnastic movie "Stick It", from cartoons, song lyrics, and a lot from YouTube. The best advice is find something they are happy with and can show their personality or that of the character - dramatic, funny, .... and they are confident doing. Break a leg! SharoninTennessee
A classic about that length is "Sick" by Shel Silverstein. Also, you might do an online search for Peanuts monologues. I've also seen excerpts from Alice in Wonderland. Or select a favorite picture book. I had a student do Click Clack Moo and it was hilarious. homeschoolva
We also have a lot of kids recite poems for auditions, sometimes with hand motions or adding their own "twist". Humpty Dumpty with lots of expression was one that stands out in my mind.
