StaceyinLA
My son thinks he MAY want to go into architecture. Can anyone advise me of courses I should include more of for his last 3 years of HS?
Michelle in AL
Potter's School has Computer Assisted Design courses: mechanical and architectural. Dd took both and loved them. CAD is what most architects use to design now.
StaceyinLA
Or can you just take them whenever? And do you have to do them as part of the school or can you just do those courses?
OLG
My dh is an architect....a strong foundation in geometry and trig is a must plus lots of art classes are another good foundation. Drawing! Study the artists. Create. Mary

Michelle in AL
I don't think there are any prereqs for the Potter's School classes.
Chez J
My dd is interested in this too. UT recommends AP Calc, AP Physics and art. The School of Architecture does not impose additional requirements. However, we recommend that high school students take AP courses (if available) including physics and calculus. In addition, we recommend humanities and elective art classes, such as drawing. When I started Interior Design school 10 years ago (never finished), they did not teach CAD, they taught drafting. Maybe that's changed since then.
