ktgrok
We are doing a VERY loose unit study on prehistoric creatures and people this summer. I bought some bison to cook, but got the ground bison as it was less expensive. Should I just make bison burgers? Or does someone have a great idea for a paleolithic meal? Gooblink
I think you need to eat it raw to be authentic. :) Nuts and berries? Pine needles? Leeks and root veggies?
ktgrok
I did get blueberries as well, thinking blueberries would work well, nuts are a good idea too!
Guest Alte Veste Academy
I would honestly put meat on a stick and cook it over an open fire (although the ground bison probably wouldn't be the best for this--I hear you on the price of a good bison steak! :tongue_smilie:). Oh, and lots of berries (raw, of course). How fun!
Rosie_0801
I don't know about appropriate meals, but how about technology? Paleolithic peoples sure weren't buying off the shelf flour. Of course I have no idea whether they made flour. If I was them, I'd have been eating pottage. Your kiddies might find it interesting to compare the difficulty in crushing different types of grain to flour. Some grains are harder, some are softer. Farrar
I would say get a book on edible wild plants and go outside and see what you can find. It raises the appreciation level for prehistoric peoples. :)
