muffinmom
I did a search on here and it came up with 0 results. But it was on this board that I found out about it. Don't really get that...but I would like to hear about anyone's experience with this curriculum. Easy to do projects, and the text was both funny and very informative. I'm somewhat considering using his Earth science next year, but haven't decided! momteaches2
I have no experience to share with you, but I can't wait to read the threads posted above. I am using this with my 2nd grade dd this year.
Mrs Mungo
I used the life science with my youngest this year. We liked it! I added in videos from BrainPop and Discovery Streaming, additional reading and experiments from the Science in a Nutshell kits. It worked really well! MelanieM
We started the life science program this month and so far (three lessons in) we really like it! One thing we're doing to get a little more oomph from the worksheets is cutting them up to make components for a lapbook/notebook. So for example, after my daughter does the matching page she cuts out the words and definitions and then glues the proper word to the back of each definition. From there they'll go into a little vocabulary pocket on a cardstock page in her science notebook. We're doing mini-books and the like for any components that suit the format. Kate in Arabia
We have used his life science and earth science books, and are planning to use chemistry in the fall. Obviously, they have worked well for us! :)
Staceyshoe
We're using Mr. Q Life Science this year. Ds really loves it, and I appreciate the fact that he's learning a very science-rich vocabulary. The content is a nice depth--not too difficult but not overly simplistic. We do the worksheets immediately afterward. Ds loves them, and they really help his retention. Some of the activities/experiments were OK, but overall I've been unimpressed. We used Janice van Cleave's books for the hands-on portion. Matryoshka
We used Life Science last year and liked it enough that we'll be using Earth Science next year.
mcconnellboys
I used it in fifth grade, when we were doing biology. I didn't use it alone, but as review and reinforcement for our other work. I do think it could stand alone. I thought it was a good program. There are some typos, particularly near the end, as if he didn't have time to proof everything, but that's pretty typical these days for most books. I thought the science was sound as an intro to biology.
