Red Cross Babysitting Course

Does anyone have any experience with this? My DDs want to enroll. It is a full day course (9-4:30) to prepare them for babysitting. Is it worth it?

My dds took the class and thought it was great.

My niece took this course. I'm pretty sure it teaches CPR and other stuff. I'm fairly certain DD can ask for more $ for her services if she has shown the initiative to be a step above the others. Talk to the teacher of the course to see exactly what it offers.

My girls took this course several years ago, and it was well worth the time. I was much more peaceful knowing that they had taken this course before caring for other families.

My dd took it when she was 12 or so. She liked it. She says she learned how to handle situations that have never come up. :) And she feels parents might like that you've taken it.

It made me a lot more 'hireable' after I had taken it, because it gave parents peace of mind. Now I want someone who is CPR-trained when I hunt for a sitter myself.

I plan to have DS10, who will be 11 (the required age) this summer, take it. I think it will help him for those times when both parents are out of the home, but I don't really need to send them over to my sister's to be babysat.
