I was taught the mantra "the fores*in is not fully retractable before the ages of 10-13".

 

When should it be at least partially retractable? Kiddo is nearly 8 and it has not budged. Doesn't seem adhered, but the opening is as small as when he was a baby. Thanks

I heard anywhere between ages 5 and 13 it can start being retractable.

 

Unless it's causing problems for your son, I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

I think that by 10 most do... Funny.. I read the forrest :) Anyway, my son's just did at 6... but just don't force it. And, it'll be fine.... It should happen by the time that he wants to start messing with it....

My son's was fully retracted by the time he was eight. That doesn't mean anything is wrong, though, as every boy is different. Our pediatrician always examined the genitals during routine exams.

I have 7 and 9yo boys - the 7yo's retracts, the 9yo's does not. He just had a physical last month and the doctor mentioned no concerns (and she checked.)

My youngest son is 12 and it has just started to retract. Rather than pulling the fores*in back, we were told he should gently stretch it upward.

 

Dh told me that his older brother's did not retract fully until around age 18. I don't know if this is really true, but I guess some just take longer. :tongue_smilie:

By the time your child is a teenager it will probably miraculously retract. I can't imagine how that could happen.
