workingmom
We will be officially starting hs this summer for my in between 1/2 grader ds. I wanted to quickly review HWT with him as I noticed some of his letters are off. Although I have to admit much has improved this year. For those of you doing handwriting do you do it every day like for 5-10 minutes or a larger block 2-3 times a week?
kaylk in tx
the other days he has more writing to do in other subjects...
Wee Pip
We have been using Handwriting Without Tears, but just doing 1/2 a page per day, 4-5xs per week. It has been a nice, gentle, everyday approach to handwriting:)

Suzanne in ABQ
Doing 5-7 minutes of focused, trying-to-make-every-letter-perfect practice, every day, will do more good than larger blocks of distracted, drawn-out, sloppier practice less often. 5 minutes is pretty painless. Just set a timer, and stop him when the timer rings. Next day, pick up where he left off. No need to "finish the page", especially if he's resistant. If he wants to go on, let him, but stop him when he starts being careless or rushed. Every time he makes a perfect letter, he's digging his neural pathways a little "deeper". The goal is to have those perfect letters permanently entrenched in his brain and muscles. Sloppy practice doesn't help. Frequent, focused practice, even for a very short time, helps tremendously. Snickerdoodle
My 6yo does one page everyday 6 days a week. His printing is horrible but we are doing cursive now and his writing is much much better.
Mamabyrd
My 5 year old does one page a day, usually. If she is having difficulty with a particular letter, I'll have her only do half the page and we'll work on the second half the next day. TracyR
We do one page a day . My girls love HWT's . So spending 5-10 minutes each day is reasonable . Plus for me it keeps us on track doing it everyday so that we don't forget .
