Suzanne in ABQ
This poll was triggered by the recent AP article. Weigh in here: http://msnbc.newsvine.com/_question/2010/03/06/3986804-is-it-ok-for-home-school-textbooks-to-dismiss-the-theory-of-evolution

yinne
I take issue with the question itself. I use the same textbooks that are used in the local private school. I wish the question did not focus on home schooling. If we are to be limited in our choices, the same should apply to private schools as well. Joanne
Poorly worded poll. I voted "not sure". It's not ok for a science text to not include the scientific theory of evolution. It *is* ok for a homeschool product to present alternative theories.
Daisy
There is no other. These kinds of idiotic polls don't help improve the image people have of home educating. I do not know of a SINGLE (NOT ONE) homeschooler who refuses to educate their children on the theory of evolution. Why don't we set up a poll here. We'll ask this... At any time during K-12 instruction will you educate your children on the theory of evolution? I bet the yes's trounce the few no's that might be out there. I'd suggest this would be just as TRUE on an exclusively Christian homeschool forum. MSNBC is just trying to create a story where one doesn't exist. hornblower
IMO, it is ok for families to teach their children whatever creation stories they believe. They should also make at least a small effort to let the children know what the rest of the world believes - and IME, the vast, vast majority of homeschool families do just that.
